PS5 Hardware Sales In The US Are Tracking Ahead Of The PS4 By 7%

Hardware sales for the PS5 in the United States are tracking ahead of PS4 hardware sales for the first 50 months of each consoles lifecycle.

Those numbers come from Mat Piscatella, Circana analyst who commonly reports sales data for the United States. While digging into the numbers from December 2024 in terms of game and hardware sales, Piscatella noted that PS5 was beginning to track ahead of the PS4 in a thread on BlueSky.

“Through each console’s first 50 months in the US market (life to date ending Dec 2024 for both XBS and PS5), PS5 lifetime unit sales are 7% ahead of PS4’s pace,” Piscatella wrote.

In regards to the other side of the aisle, Piscatella said “Xbox Series trails Xbox One by 18%.”

While the PS5 is tracking ahead of the PS4, for the month of December 2024, Piscatella also noted that the PS5 was 18% behind its numbers for December 2023.

Overall hardware spending for December 2024 was also down, compared to December 2023.
