Sony Is Reportedly Working On Bringing Back ‘At Least A Couple’ Of Old IPs

The lates VGC podcast has revealed that Sony is apparently busy resurrecting at least ‘a couple’ of old IPs in its portfolio, with journalist Andy Robinson describing them as “deep cut.”

Without being an insider dick, I know of at least a couple that they’re working on. Like the deep cut, old IP stuff.

Robison’s comments come just a day after it was reported that PlayStation chief Hermen Hulst said that the format holder is always looking at ways to leverage past IP, indicating the company may be open to resurrecting a number of its older franchises. Sony isn’t hurting for choice in this respect, with series’ including Jak & Daxter, Resistance, Sly Cooper, Killzone, and more all deserving of fresh entries. I would even argue that Uncharted, which is relatively new compared to those above, is long overdue a new instalment.

Of course, the likes of Insomniac Games and Sucker Punch have long since moved on to other major franchises such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsushima, respectively, but that isn’t to say the couldn’t revisit their old IPs, or have another studio take up the ask of bringing them back.
