Tencent’s upcoming open-world RPG Honor of Kings: World is set to launch in 2025.
The news was revealed during today’s Apple Event, which saw the unveiling of new devices, including the iPhone 16 range of smartphones.
Apple said the title would feature an “ultra graphics mode” optimised for iPhone 16, powering higher resolution, advanced lighting effects, “powerful global illumination technology”, and expanded viewing distance. It did not state whether this mode would be exclusive to iPhone.
Apple showed a small gameplay demo of the title during the announcement, which you can see below.
The last footage from the Honor of Kings World YouTube account came on October 28th, 2023, showing a six-minute gameplay trailer of the game.
Banking on a blockbuster
Developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio, Honor of Kings: World is set to release across multiple platforms when it launches next year.
The title is a spin-off of the wildly successful MOBA, which has generated $17.36 billion worldwide from the App Store and Google Play to date, according to AppMagic estimates. Most of that revenue comes from China’s App Store and does not include player spending on third-party Android stores.
The title began rolling out to players worldwide on June 20th. Previously, localised versions of the game, such as Arena of Valor, had been launched across various regions.
We spoke to Honor of Kings chief designer Dean Huang, head of localisation Henry Li and head of esports Feng earlier this year to get more details on the game’s launch.
