Castles is Fallout Shelter for Skyrim fans
Fallout Shelter is a great mobile game. Seriously, in the long drought between Fallout 4 and Fallout 5, that little game offers a great reprieve, but what about TES fans? I’ve long thought that the Fallout Shelter Formula would work for the fantasy world, and evidently, Bethesda agrees, as the Fallout Shelter team has been busy with a new mobile TES game. Better still, it’s not a long wait for The Elder Scrolls: Castles release date, being less than a month away.
Yes, you read that right. There’s no need to settle for games like Skyrim anymore, not when you can revisit the world of Elder Scrolls. As the name implies, you get your own castle, but for your kingdom to flourish, you need to be willing to put the work in. Or at least train some lackeys to carry out those all-important duties. You even get to name your heirs. I can picture it now: multiple heirs getting their own armies and duking it out to be the sole ruler – straight out of an episode of Game of Thrones.
Of course, you need to decide what sort of ruler you are. It’s not just you high up in your castle that you need to think about, or maybe it is, but your subjects might only put up with a tyrant for so long. You get to settle arguments between settlers however you want, and while this is a fantasy game, perhaps you want to take a page out of history and make people duke it out – I hear a certain Colosseum is nice this time of year.
In all seriousness, every decision you make matters; you can risk some serious backlash by doing nothing to help your villagers while also endangering your kingdom as a whole if you prove to be too benevolent. You might have to embrace the whole ‘the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’ mantra.
However, you can ensure you have a strong and wealthy kingdom by training up soldiers who you can then send on quests against some very familiar foes from The Elder Scrolls series. Oh, and let’s not forget that you get to customize your castle in your image, add new rooms, add luxurious decor, create monuments, and assign workstations to your staff.
