Ubisoft Has Reassured Fans Again That Yes, Beyond Good & Evil 2 Is Still In Development

For years, Ubisoft had two games under its belt that looked like they were just never going to actually come out. Skull & Bones, and Beyond Good & Evil 2.

It finally got one of those games out this year, with Skull & Bones releasing this past February 2024. But we’re still waiting for Beyond Good & Evil 2, which has now long surpassed Duke Nukem Forever as the game with the longest development tail.

So for what feels like the umpteenth time, Ubisoft has come out to reassure fans once again that yes, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development.

In a larger thread on Twitter, the official Beyond Good & Evil account answered the tired question once more to say “Yes, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, and we cannot wait for you to discover more about Jade’s past in the 20th Anniversary Edition!”

That last part about “Jade’s past” is a reminder that the coming 20th Anniversary Edition of the original Beyond Good & Evil game will come with a new mission including narrative ties to the long-delayed sequel. Though it’s arguable that fans would rather the new mission end with a reveal of the sequel’s release date over some new lore details.

We have reports dating all the way back to 2011 where fans are being told not to worry, it’s still coming. Ubisoft has had to come out and make a statement like this again and again over the years.

Or we’ve hung onto rumour after rumour of it being still barely alive or that it’s dying or already dead. Then there’s been all the times Ubisoft has stated that things are still early on in the process and we can’t talk about it yet but not to worry because when it does arrive it’ll be a big deal.

All the while the game goes through various creative leads, continues to hire more developers and still no end in sight can be seen.

With Skull & Bones having finally seen the light of day, and this new anniversary edition of the original game seemingly doing something to try and get old fans excited about the sequel (while also hopefully scooping up new ones) it could be that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will indeed finally launch on consoles and PC’s everywhere.

Will it live up to the long wait fans have endured, and the back and forth about whether or not the game is actually happening? Who knows! But it’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
