Xbox Leadership Features In TIME’s Top 100 Climate List For 2023

Xbox has been taking all sorts of action to improve gaming sustainability, and one of the people driving this change within the company is the Director of Gaming Sustainability, Trista Patterson.

In celebration of her efforts, she’s now made TIME’s top “100 climate” list – highlighting the “most influential leaders driving business to real climate action”. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer even congratulated her for helping game developers reduce emissions and energy bills without impacting game performance:

Here’s what TIME had to say about Patterson’s role at Xbox:

Trista Patterson is the chief sustainability officer at Xbox, where she spearheads the gaming company’s ambitious target to be carbon negative by 2030. She co-founded the U.N. Playing4thePlanet Alliance to help the world’s largest video-game companies and their players set more ambitious climate goals. In 2023, Xbox released a toolkit to help developers track and reduce emissions from their games, an industry first.

You can learn more about Trista’s views on climate technology and change on the TIME website and also on Xbox Wire, where she appeared on the Xbox podcast earlier this year to talk about gaming sustainability. Microsoft co-founder and former CEO Bill Gates also made the same list.
