Kenny Omega Says He And CM Punk “Reached Out To Each Other” After Backstage AEW Incident
Kenny Omega spoke out about the infamous Brawl Out incident from AEW ALL OUT 2022 that involved CM Punk and The Elite during a recent Twitch live stream.
While talking about the topic, βThe Cleanerβ was asked by a fan where things stand between he and βThe Best in the World.β
βStatus with Punk right now? I donβt know, itβs just mutual respect,β Omega said. βWe reached out to each other. Hereβs the thing β I canβt really think of anyone that I dislike or have like an issue with, especially an issue with wrestling. Itβs not like, βHey, weβre good now.β Itβs β we were never bad. Honestly, if it werenβt for a complete other factor, we would have been able to have that talk on the night of Brawl Out. Thereβs no issue between him and I, as far as I know. I donβt think there is at all.β
Omega continued, βI donβt want to seem standoffish or like secretive about what happened. Like, yes thereβs legalities and all that stuff, but even if there wasnβt β and I know this will sound weird because Iβve done a lot of comedy stuff in wrestling β but like, Iβm actually not a huge fan of pulling back the curtain on stuff that doesnβt need to be out in public. Thatβs why Iβm saying like, if for whatever reason, guys were to fight or whatever, like itβs not for the public to know. Thatβs just for them to air out their stuff to get it out of their system. Thatβs all I mean.β
Additionally, Omega said that while he has an EVP title in AEW, he hasnβt had power in more than four years now.
βAnd Iβll tell you why, itβs because Iβm a terrible EVP,β he said. βI donβt deserve to be an EVP. If people want to ask for my advice, Iβll do my best to help them. If thereβs a fire to put out backstage, Iβm going to do my best to be that person.β
