Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Larian Studios Won’t Be Releasing DLC Or A Sequel
If you were hoping Larian Studios would be following up the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 with DLC or perhaps even a sequel, you might want to keep reading…
At the 2024 Game Developers Conference this week, studio founder Swen Vincke said the Belgian developer was moving on from Dungeons & Dragons entirely (thanks, IGN). Even DLC (including expansions) appears to be off the cards, with Larian instead opting to release multiple free updates (featuring content, quality-of-life improvements, and more) since the game’s launch.
Larian never actually guaranteed it would extend the adventures of Baldur’s Gate 3 with DLC or expansions, so this is seemingly it! Last year in August, Larian also mentioned how it would “carry on patching” Baldur’s Gate 3 for a while, so there’s at least that.
Just this week, the Xbox version of the game received three updates in one day. Cross-platform mod support is also apparently coming to the title later this year.
