Warner Bros. Discovery Will Remove Small Radios Big Televisions From Digital Stores, So The Creator Has Made It Free To Download On PC
Owen Deery is a solo-game developer, who under the studio name Fire Face created Small Radios Big Televisions, a puzzle game with a unique style and look that is available on PC and PS4.
The game has been out since 2016, and at time of writing is still available on the PlayStation Store in North America, at least, but it wonβt be for much longer.
Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of the gameβs publisher Adult Swim informed Deery on Tuesday that it will be βretiringβ the game on both Steam and PS4, with βretiringβ being another word for βremoving.β
In response, Deery publicly announced Warner Bros. Discoveryβs decision, and decided to release the game to the public for free, downloadable on PC.
βWarnerBros Discovery have informed me they will be βretiringβ my game Small Radios Big Televisions from both Steam and PS4 stores. Iβve made it free to download here: https://www.psu.com/news/warner-bros-discovery-will-remove-small-radios-big-televisions-on-ps4-so-the-creator-has-made-it-free-to-download-on-pc/. Thanks for all your support.β
When you click the link that takes you to the page where you can download the game, Deery further clarifies the game is being removed from stores as of today, March 5, 2024.
Small Radios Big Televisions never got a physical release, so WarnerBros Discovery removing it from stores would effectively remove it from the gaming landscape if you didnβt already own it.
On top of that, itβs clear WarnerBros. Discovery was looking to do this quietly, without anyone noticing. Another sign of how an all-digital future, even if it is inevitable, is a much scarier and more complex landscape in terms of ownership and preservation.
Deery releasing it like this means the game lives on and stays preserved in a way that keeps it available for future generations of players.
