COCOON devs show off the prototype versus final game

COCOON was one of the best games of 2023, earning multiple Game of the Year nominations and wins, and deserved so. The game is absolutely mind-boggling when it comes to the intricacies of its puzzle design, and the whole experience is wrapped up in an audio-visual package that ties everything together. If you missed out on this one last year, you’ll definitely want to go back and check it out.

Now that the game’s been available for quite some time, the developers behind COCOON are showing off how the sausage was made. The latest example of that is the video below, which shows off the COCOON prototype in all of its simplistic glory.

Just as the above post mention, this video showcases the prototype back when the developers were working on the first Orb and its abilities. This video really gives you a fantastic idea of how rudimentary games look when the mechanics and features are being worked out. Sure, COCOON would have been just as amazing in the gameplay department if it retained the prototype’s look, but it’s clear the artists that worked on the game brought the game to a whole different level.
