Everyone knows that one of the best ways to create hype around an upcoming movie is to release an exciting and dynamic trailer for it, full of action, romance, and, if you’re from the 90s, that guy with the really deep voice. Wonder what he’s doing now. Unfortunately, sometimes a trailer can go too far in trying to attract an audience, and reveal all of the best bits of the film ahead of time. The trailer for the original Friday the 13th spoiled pretty much all of the kills. Soylent Green’s preview more-or-less confirmed its big twist. And, a trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers gave away the fact that Gandalf came back to life! Unfortunately, this same ugly trend exists in video games too, as big swerves and secrets from some huge games were completely neutered by the people whose job it was to make the trailer.
