This quick guide will take you through all the first-party accessories available for PS5, and show you where to check out some third-party accessories.
It’ll also go through why it’s a good idea to have some of these accessories in your own home.

PlayStation Accessories For PS5
DualSense Wireless Controller – $69.99/€69.99/£59.99
Of course, having one controller is great, but even if you’re the only person playing your console, it’s worth it to have a second. A controller is the kind of accessory you’re likely always going to need.
Whether it be by stick drift or another death, it’s rare a controller will last you the entire lifespan of a console, and beyond. Making sure to have a back-up is simply a wise choice.
Plus, you can get those back-ups in multiple colours:
- Volcanic Red
- Galactic Purple
- Cobalt Blue
- Sterling Silver
- Starlight Blue
- Nova Pink
- Midnight Black
- Original White
- Cosmic Red
- Grey Camouflage
DualSense Edge PS5 Pro Controller – $199/€239.99/£209.99
Unlike the rest of the accessories on this list, this is something you get only if you’re a specific kind of player. Everything else tries to solve a problem anyone can have, but the DualSense Edge is for players who want just that – an edge.
Take it from our review, “An elegantly engineered controller that doubles down on the industry leading features of the DualSense by empowering the player to customise them however they like, the DualSense Edge is a toweringly capable pro controller that effortlessly justifies its premium price point with aplomb.”
DualSense Wireless Controller Charging Station – $29.99/€29.99/£24.99
This one is the kind of accessory that is, ultimately optional but could greatly improve your quality of life when using your PS5.
Having a place your controllers go that also charges them does two things for you all the time. It keeps your gaming station more organized, everything in its place and all that, and it ensures you never find yourself with a dead controller.
This is an especially wise purchase if you play in front of a tv, and would otherwise have to adjust where you sit, or buy a really long charging cable, to have a gaming session at all.
PS5 Media Remote – $29.99/€29.99/£24.99
Like the charging station, the PS5 Media Remote is something that feels very optional. You can just use your DualSense controller to navigate any media apps, instead of buying this remote.
Also like the charging station however, it can greatly improve your quality of life when using your console. If you turn on your PS5 to do everything – play games, watch tv, movies, YouTube etc, then this remote is a highly recommended purchase.
Having a dedicated remote that doesn’t have to be kept charged like your controllers is the kind of small convenience you never knew you needed, but that you’ll treasure once you have it.
The media remote is also an excellent purchase if you have others in your household who will use the PS5 to watch or listen to other media, but not play games. It’s easy for gamers to forget that not everyone is used to using a controller, even if it is just for scrolling through YouTube and pressing play.
PS5 HD Camera – $59.99/€59.99/£49.99
Now this accessory is one that really is optional. It’s the first-party, plug-and-play option for anyone just starting their streaming/YouTube clipping career.
The HD camera captures footage in 1080p and it’s adjustable stand makes it easy to ensure you’re getting the right shot.
Not everyone wants to be a streamer of course, but for what this camera offers it is a great starting device and quality PS5 accessory.
Pulse 3D Wireless Headset – $99.99/€99.99/£89.99
It cannot be stressed enough that having a good pair of headphones is imperative for gamers. Firstly, headphones help you be courteous of those around you, keeping your game sound silent to neighbours behind a thin wall or the people in the room with you.
That’s the reason you give to your family when your birthday is around the corner, for why it would be in their interest to buy you some headphones. The reason you want them, is because they can vastly improve your game time.
If you have a good sound system, that’s one thing, but good headphones can immerse you far more into whatever you’re playing. If you play competitive games, particularly any shooters, then you already know good headphones can be the difference between a win and a loss.
PlayStation’s own Pulse 3D Wireless headphones also include the same haptic technology in your DualSense controller, along with its high sound quality to really bring you into the action.
Of course there are plenty of headphone options out there, but like every other first-party product, it’s the ease and family-of-products feel that makes the Pulse 3D headphones more than a fine choice. You can check out our review, here.
PS5 Console Covers – $54.99/€54.99/£44.99
Out of all the PS5 accessories on this list, these are by far the most optional, though if you feel a certain type of way about the look of the PS5, they’re actually quite important.
There were more than a few PS5 owners who rushed to the ‘pre-order’ button once the Midnight Black side plates went on sale.
If you do want to change up your consoles look, you can do it in all the same colours available for DualSense controllers.
- Volcanic Red
- Galactic Purple
- Cobalt Blue
- Sterling Silver
- Starlight Blue
- Nova Pink
- Midnight Black
- Original White
- Cosmic Red
- Grey Camouflage
PlayStation Access Controller – $89.99/€89.99/£79.99
This is an accessory that if you need, you’ve likely already bought. The Access Controller is a big step forward for PlayStation’s accessibility efforts, simply in that there’s finally something available on PlayStation.
It’s not a perfect device by any means, and those looking at it should look to reviews done by players who absolutely need the features that the Access controller brings to the table.
Still, it’s a good effort on PlayStation’s part, and one can only hope that they’ll continue to improve on the device in the future.
Third-Party PS5 Accessories
Okay, so there are obviously a lot of accessories not made by PlayStation that will still work just fine with your PS5. There are so many, that we couldn’t realistically list them all here.
So we’re only going to list the ones that you ought to keep on your radar, and we’re going to keep it to two different categories, for now. Headphones and Controllers.
