Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Will Not Feature Snowboarding Minigame, Confirms Director
One of the original Final Fantasy VII’s most beloved minigames, snowboarding, has not made the cut for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Speaking as part of a 129 rapid-fire question interview with Game Informer, game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the news, and given the nature of the interview did not elaborate any further as to the reasoning.
The snowboarding mini game is infamously one of the original game’s most pronounced tonal shifts following a particular story element, and given where we anticipate Rebirth will finish up prior to the final third installment, it perhaps makes sense that it won’t make an appearance in the game.
That being said, we’re likely to see the sequence of story beats change when compared to the original so who knows if we’ll see it when the third game finally rolls around.

Luckily there appears to be a plethora of side content and minigames included in Rebirth, with Hamaguchi-san confirming in the same interview that the original’s CPR mini game will be making a return, albeit in a ‘slightly changed’ fashion.
