Skye Blue Recalls Working As An Extra For AEW Before Joining The Company Full-Time
Skye Blue has come a long way since first appearing in All Elite Wrestling as an βextraβ on television.
The AEW star recently appeared as a guest on the βTalk Is Jerichoβ podcast with Chris Jericho, during which she reflected on working as an extra in AEW before making her in-ring debut for the promotion on the April 12, 2021 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation in a loss against Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.
The appearance came about after her matches during WrestleMania weekend and a conversation with Joey Janela that year.
βI had Mania bookings that weekend, I took a bunch of Indie bookings, and one of them was a GCW show. I was going to be in Tampa already,β Blue recalled when talking about the topic to Jericho. βGod bless him, Joey Janela hits me up, and there is a clip of me and Billie Starkz wrestling and he sends me this clip and goes, βPlease donβt kill her. Donβt do this again.β βOkay.β βText Shawn Dean.β βWhat?β βJust do it.β βOkay.β Hit Shawn Dean up. βYou from Chicago?β βYeah.β βCool, youβre an extra.β I was like, βWhat?β Losing my mind. I remember looking at my phone and crying. βThere is no way this is real.β He was like, βChange your flight and come early.ββ
She continued, βIt was when we were doing Tuesdays through Thursdays. I was there the whole time. my first match was Britt, my second was Abadon, and I remember shaking the entire time. (Queen) Aminata was actually an extra, too. We had our first day as extras together. We didnβt know we were going to be extras at the same time. Weβre standing in line with our COVID papers. We were both relieved. βOh my God, I know somebody.β It was a little less scary.β
