Starfield Mods Seem Super Popular Already, Even Before Official Support From Bethesda
Mods are always big with Bethesda Game Studios releases – they’ve helped extend the life of titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4 for years beyond their initial launches. And, if the early signs are anything to go by, it could be a similar story for Starfield – the team’s latest RPG.
As spotted by Rebs Gaming over on Twitter, the ‘NexusMods’ site hosts a bunch of super-popular Starfield mods already – including ones that improve general performance, add tools like DLSS support, and even some more niche mods such as one to improve certain UI elements. In total, Starfield mods on the site have been downloaded more than 30 million times by PC players.
That’s a lot of downloads – and these figures are here before Bethesda unleashes its own official mod tools. That’s right, the team has already committed to official mod support in 2024 – and those mods will be applicable to both the PC and the Xbox Series X|S versions of Starfield. If you are a PC player though, it could be worth browsing these current mods to see if there’s anything you think is worth a download!
It’s the official mods where things could really take off though, we reckon. PC Players are no strangers to applying mods but it’s much more of a novel concept on console, with Bethesda being one of the mod tool pioneers via some of its last generation titles. We’re quite excited to see what the community will come up with in terms of official Starfield mods; they could and should extend the life of the game by quite a margin.
