Here Are The Top 10 Xbox Games Of 2023 According To Metacritic

It’s almost time for us to publish our Pure Xbox Game of the Year 2023 roundup – you’ll find out the winner on Christmas Day – but until then, we thought we’d take a look at the highest-rated Xbox games of 2023 according to Metacritic.

This has been an incredible year for gaming in general, and so it’s no surprise that we’ve got some absolutely stunning AAA titles in the list from Resident Evil 4 to Alan Wake 2, as well as fantastic indies such as Sea of Stars!

Below, you’ll find the full list, however we’ve eliminated The Witcher 3’s Complete Edition as it was only the physical version that launched this year (digital was last year), and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has also been omitted due to being an expansion – the same goes for Resident Evil 4’s Separate Ways DLC.

You should also keep in mind that Metacritic doesn’t count anything with less than seven professional reviews for Xbox, so if you’re favourite title didn’t make the cut, it might be because it just hasn’t been reviewed enough yet. That includes Baldur’s Gate 3, which still doesn’t have enough reviews for Xbox to be categorised for now.

  1. Alan Wake 2 – 94
  2. Diablo 4 – 91
  3. Resident Evil 4 Remake – 91
  4. Street Fighter 6 – 90
  5. Dead Space – 89
  6. Cocoon – 89
  7. Persona 4 Golden – 89
  8. Sea of Stars – 89
  9. Hi-Fi RUSH – 87
  10. Monster Hunter Rise – 87

With it being such an amazing year, there were a few very worthy titles that didn’t make the list. The likes of Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1 and Forza Motorsport were all in the mid-80s, while Starfield landed on an 83. And of course Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t been rated yet either, otherwise it may have ended up taking the top spot.

The complete list beyond the top ten is available over at Metacritic if you’re interested, and as mentioned, don’t forget that we’ll be publishing our own top ten here at Pure Xbox on the 25th – made up entirely of your votes!
