Sony’s PS5 Had 43% Share Of All Consoles Sales Over Last 12 Months In The UK

GfK has revealed that the PS5 enjoyed a 43% share of all console sales in the past year in the UK, with the figure rising to 51% during the last six moths.

Speaking a statement issued to GI.biz, GfK’s Dorian Bloch commented:

Recent PS5 highlights coming from unrestricted sales on the standard PS5 hardware model, aggressive price promotions in July and August, and the recent EA Sports FC 24 bundle. Over the same measures the Xbox Series consoles have dropped from 26% market share over the last 12 months to 23% over the last 6 months, but the biggest decline has been Switch, down from 34% to 25%.

Meanwhile, sales of the PS5 are up over 100% in some European territories, with Sony’s flagship console driving global market growth thanks to the system now being readily available worldwide. Prior to this, the PS5 was suffering from major stock shortages as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which didn’t really end until the beginning of the year.
