Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Will Feature A Fully Voiced Protagonist

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has most definitely struggled in its development, with the initial team taken off the project, replaced by another and is still supposedly set to release for sometime in 2024.

The latest update though doesn’t provide us with a delay, or a newly confirmed release date, instead it’s the news that the protagonist of the game, the main character you’ll play as will be fully voiced by an actor.

“Ultimately, the choice was down to ‘How immersive do we want the story to feel’” said Arone Le Bray, narrative designer on Bloodlines 2 at the studio leading the project, The Chinese Room.

“What having a voiced protagonist and a slightly more established character gets us is, we can go deeper in the customization, and deeper into experiencing [Phyre’s] role by doing that – as opposed to trying to go more broad and encompassing all the various possibilities.”

The Chinese Room is historically a more narrative focused developer, so this move isn’t all that surprising as it’s right in the studio’s wheelhouse.

Hopefully for players, and the team, this is a move that pays off when it finally does launch.
