Media Molecule Is Reportedly Letting Go Of 15-20% Of Its Staff
A new report has claimed that Media Molecule, the developer behind PlayStation classics Dreams and LittleBigPlanet, is laying off 15-20% of its staff.
According to Sports Illustrated’s GLHF, an internal meeting took place at the studio today where it was announced that around 20 of its 135-strong staff would be let go. This comes in wake of the news that Media Molecule would be ending support for Dreams, which the studio described as a “difficult decision” but necessary in order to push forward for an “exciting new project.”
Dreams was originally released in February 2020 following a period of Early Access, and while support has now wrapped, players are still able to play, create and share their content on the game. No further updates are being made for the game, however, and there’s now a 5GB storage limit on creations.
Back in May, it was announced that John Beech would take up the role of the studio’s new creative director following the departure of co-founder Mark Healey.
