Genshin Impact Update 4.0 ‘As Light Rain Falls Without Reason’ Due August 16

miHoYo has slapped an August 16, 2023 release date on Genshin Impact update 4.0, which is known as ‘As Light Rain Falls Without Reason.’

Genshin Impact’s latest update introduces the fifth nation of Teyvat, known as Fontaine. A Nation of Justice, Fontaine acts as a hub of culture, art, and technology, and comes packing new features including extra adventures, game modes, stories, and three playable characters.

Located northeast of the Sumeru desert, Fontaine is now ruled by Focalors, the Hydro Archon and the God of Justice. Under her influence, trials have become important public events at the Opera Epiclese, where magic, farce, tragedy, and various sorts of performances also take place. The latest chapter of the Archon Quest also takes place here, and players will witness a masterful magic show by Lyney and Lynette as well as an ongoing trial.

As for the new characters, they are siblings — Lyney,Lynette, and Freminet. Lyney is the eldest sibling and is a famous magician, and a five-star archer. Meanwhile, his sister, Lynette, is a four-star Anemo who is equipped with a sword and is able to approach foe with “disconcerting speed.” Finally, the youngest of the trio, Freminet, is a skilled diver and acts as a four-star Claymore user, with expertise in wielding fully-pressurised Press to launch Cryo and Physical attacks.

Players will also encounter new bosses in Fontaine, with the first challenge being Icewind Suite. A product of Fontaine’s clockwork tech and art, this challenge features a dancing clockwork meka duo and allows players to choose between one of two theme. Another boss, the Armored Crablord ‘Emperor of Fire and Iron,’ lurks in an underwater cave and can unleash a powerful Pyro attack through its organs.

Genshin Impact update 4.0 launches August 16 for PS5, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android.
