Star Wars: Outlaws Various Planetary Environments Are All “Handcrafted,” And Each The Size Of Multiple Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Zones

Star Wars: Outlaws is decidedly one of Ubisoft’s biggest games coming up, not to try and lessen the size of Avatar or any upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles, but having Star Wars attached to any AAA game title can move it up the import ladder.

We’re also learning though, that it’ll be another milestone in Ubisoft’s attempts to always make game maps bigger than they’ve been before so it can place more towers for you to climb, as is tradition.

According to a recent interview with Ubisoft Massive’s Outlaw’s creative director Julian Gerighty, the different “handcrafted” planet’s players will visit across the galaxy in Outlaws are each of them about the size of two or three zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

“It’s a crude analogy, but the size of one planet might be about [equivalent to] two of the zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, for example.” said Gerighty. “It could be two to three zones.

But it’s not, you know, this sort of epic ‘the whole of England recreated’ approach.”

And when Gerighty says each of the environments are “handcrafted,” he specifically meant “we haven’t procedurally generated an entire planet.”

All of which is not only good to know, but buts a great deal of things to be excited about for Outlaws.

Yes, there might still be towers in need of climbing to reveal these huge planet-wide maps, but that’s more Star Wars real estate than fans have ever had to play in.
