EA Reveals New Logo For EA Sports FC, More Information To Come In July
EA and FIFA’s annualized video game relationship dramatically ended last year, and EA announced it would keep making football games under a new name, EA Sports FC.
Now earlier on Thursday EA finally revealed its official logo for this new series of football games, with a tease for more information to come this July.
A short teaser trailer tells fans that EA “can’t wait to show you the future of football this July.”
Since that tweet went live, major football clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool FC have posted similar teaser videos showing that they’ll be included in the first EA Sports FC title.
Covering more ground at once though is the MLS and the Premier League’s own tweets, each showing that the teams belonging to those leagues will also be included.
“This is where the story of EA Sports FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take that into a fan-first future.” says Nick Wlodyka, senior vice president and general manager of EA Sports FC at EA.
“EA Sports FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.”
The annualized FIFA titles have been a huge symbol for fans of football around the world, so much that talking to someone about ‘FIFA’ began to mean you were talking about the video game, rather than the global tournament every four years, or the organization itself.
While EA Sports FC will play and look like the FIFA games fans have come to know, it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for this new title to take on a similar meaning compared to its predecessor.
Especially when the FIFA organization is currently working to develop its own football game, to compete with EA.
