Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II And Warzone 2.0 Hit A New Low For Player Count On Steam

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 are both games you’d think wouldn’t have an issue when it comes to player count, but that’s not been the case of late as both titles hit below 90k players, a low that hasn’t been seen since it launched this past fall.

That’s just for numbers on PC according to SteamDB, with the low count being pointed out by Reddit user coone90, but it’s still a significant drop to see.

Especially when considering that its competition, games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, Destiny 2, even Battlefield 2042, are all either on the up or not experiencing this kind of decrease.

Numbers even went as low as 45k players in more recent data. Of course these numbers don’t include console players, so it could be very likely that these numbers just represent a particular drop in its PC community, that may even be made up for on the console side.

Still, it’s at least curious that the game which is usually leading the first-person shooter genre in all aspects seems to be faltering.

The comments below the Reddit post however lend some understanding, painting a picture of a player-base that feels the game has gone stale, and frustrated by a poorly executed skill based matmaking system.
