Horizon’s Sylens And Destiny’s Commander Zavala Actor Lance Reddick Has Died

Lance Reddick, the actor known to gamers as Commander Zavala in Destiny and Sylens in both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, has died at the age of 60.

Reddick was well known to game fans for his roles across other titles like Quantum Break and Payday 2, but outside of that most fans would recognize Reddick from his incredible work on HBO’s The Wire, or more recently the John Wick films.

Lance Reddick was an incredible talent, whose voice and presence could be felt immediately with each performance. His cause of death isn’t currently known, though 60 years old is still far too young for anyone.

Commander Zavala is a huge pillar in the Destiny community, with Reddick’s performance and amazing voice made the character an icon to Destiny fans.

How Bungie goes on without him now with the character will be interesting to see. For now though, if you load up Destiny 2 and check into the Tower, you can join the hundreds of other fans all each paying their own small tribute to Reddick in front of Commander Zavala.
