The Last Of Us HBO Episode 8 Hits 8.1 Million Viewers, Up 74% Over Series Premiere

HBO’s The Last of Us has been going from strength to strength since its debut in January 2023, and its latest episode has attracted records viewers, with 8.1 million tuning in on Saturday night.

This is the penultimate episode of The Last of Us HBO Season One, and represented a 74% increase in viewership over the debut episode. Those of you who have played the game will recognise the episode as a crucial part in the story between Joel and Ellie, and introduces the character of David and his companions, one of which is played by Troy Baker, Joel’s voice actor in the games.

The Last of Us HBO features Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and largely follows the story of the games as the duo trek across the post-apocalyptic US while fending off infected and groups of human survivors.

HBO has renewed The Last of Us for a second season, which is expected to tell the events of The Last of Us: Part 2.
