007 First Light PSSR 2.0 PS5 Pro Features Detailed, Includes Reduced Shimmering & Better Temporal Stability Under Motion

IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light will take full advantage of upgraded PSSR — aka PSSR 2.0 — for PS5 Pro users, offering a multitude of visual and performance improvements over the base version of James Bond’s latest video game outing.

For starters, PSSR 2.0 allows for a more stable and clear image quality on PS5 Pro, whether it’s dense foliage in outdoor locations to character detail during in-game cinematic. The technology also allows for far less shimmering and flicking artefacts, which means players experience a “calmer, more cohesive image,” which his particularly noticeable during sequences that are full of fine geometry and high-frequency detail.

Another clear advantage of upgraded PSSR is improved temporal stability under motion: “Whether the camera is sweeping through an environment or the player is sprinting between cover, upgraded PSSR holds the image together far more convincingly than before. Moving objects retain their definition instead of breaking up,” read the post.

IO Interactive Technical Director, Henrik Schlichter, commented:

Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right. It’s a clear upgrade for our PS5 Pro players.

007 First Light is set to launch for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on May 27, 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing later in the year. The game is the first major Bond outing since 007 Legends back in 2012, and features Patrick Gibson as a younger version of the British super spy as he embarks on a mission that will secure his 00 Status.
