Devil May Cry And Dead Rising Are Among The Dormant Franchises That Capcom Wants To ‘Nurture’

Speaking during its latest financial report, Resident Evil publisher Capcom reconfirmed its intention to “nurture” a number of the company’s for ant IPs including Devil May Cry, which hasn’t seen a game released since 2019’s Devil May Cry 5.
Capcom named the stylish action-adventure franchise alongside other franchises such as Ace Attorney and Mega Man, which was previously mentioned by COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto last year, but has now included Onimusha, Okami, Dragon’s Dogma, and Dead Rising in the mix. A couple of those series already have new games in the works — we have a new Mega Man game coming in 2027 and of course Onimusha Way of the Sword later this year — but the likes of Devil May Cry and Dead Rising have yet to see any significant developments.
For now, Devil May Cry fans have been having to chow down on the Netflix animated series, which to be fair is doing pretty well and has been renewed for another season. Still, it’s a proper game that people have been clamouring for all this time, whether it be a remake or a sequel to DMC 5.
You may have seen rumours about a Devil May Cry 1 Remake floating around on social media in the last few days, but they don’t come from a reliable source as far as I can tell and therefore shouldn’t be taken seriously. The only major Capcom projects that have been heavily rumoured for some time now that have some credence to them are the remakes of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, which are supposedly coming out in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
In related news, Capcom announced that it has posted record profits for the ninth year in a row thanks largely to the success of Resident Evil Requiem and catalogue sales of the franchise.
