Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Won’t Be Delisted In Favour Of Its Upcoming PS5 Remake

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Creative Director, Paul Fu, has revealed that the original version of the swashbuckling action-adventure game will still be available alongside the remake, which is good news for those who were concerned it would be delisted from storefronts.

Concurrently, Fu also confirmed previous reports that the multiplayer and DLC seen in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag (2013) won’t be included in the remake. Here’s the full statement from yesterday’s reveal:

With Resynced we made a clear choice, it is a pure story driven adventure and we are fully focused on Edward’s adventures in the Carribean. As a result of this focus, we have elected to not have the multiplayer and not have the DLC. However, Resynced is built from the ground up, with new story, new content and news sytems, but we’re staying true to his action-adventure roots. Resynced is a 2026 take on the original legend, and for those of us who are curious, the original will still be available.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is due out on July 9, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is more than just a quick paint job, as it completely overhauls the visuals thanks to the latest version of the Anvil Engine, offering sumptuously detailed character models and environments that breathe new life into pirate adventure. Furthermore, key mechanics such as combat, parkour, and stealth have been given a shot in the arm with new features, such as the ability to crouch at any point and back eject from walls.

Still, if you haven’t played the original game and still want to buy it even with the release of the remake (for example, if you don’t own a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S) you can still grab – and having replayed it a few years ago, I personally think it still holds up fantastic and is well worth a look.

The original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was released in late 2013 for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
