Erika Ishii Would ‘Jump’ At The Chance To Play Ghost Of Yotei’s Atsu Again

Erika Ishii, the actor who portrayed Atsu in Sucker Punch ProductionsGhost of Yotei, has said that they would ‘jump’ at the opportunity to play the character again.

Speaking wth VGC ahead of the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, where she is nominated for Performer in a Leading Role, Ishii commented, “Atsu will always have a special place in my heart. It’s wild that, after three years of getting to live in this character, it’s so easy to sort of just like pull out the voice again or to know, oh, yes, that’s how she would react.”

I always, I really, really love that they do anthology stories. The idea of the title being the remarkable thing and how each person who assumes the mantle grows in that moment in time, in which we play their game, is so compelling to me. I love anthology series, but yes, any opportunity to revisit Atsu’s world again, I would jump at, absolutely.

Ghost of Yotei was released for PS5 in October 2025, and you can have a gander at our full verdict here. Speaking at GDC back in March, Nate Fox and Jason Connell of Sucker Punch Productions revealed that the team had prototyped a climbing mechanic for Ghost of Yotei similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it was ultimately given the boot.

Ghost of Yotei is set over 300 years after the events of its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima. The story follows mercenary Atsu, who has adopted the persona of the onryo in quest to hunt down the Yotei Six, who, sixteen years prior to the game’s events, destroyed her home and slaughtered her family.
