Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Is Still In Development, Confirms Saber Interactive’s Tim Willits

Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer of Saber Interactive, has revealed that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still in development, but wasn’t able to provide any additional details on the much-anticipated project
“Yes, it is still in development. That’s all I can say,” Willits said during an interview with IGN, when asked about the status of the project.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was announced for PS5 and PC back in 2021 and was originally scheduled to launch in late 2022. However, clearly things haven’t gone to play, as nearly five years after its announcement and we’re still waiting for it to grace PS5. Back in August 2022, the project was shifted from Aspyr Media to Saber Interactive, and since then the latter has continually reaffirmed fans that it’s still in development.
In fact, Willits himself said in September 2025 that “everything we have talked about is still in development,” which presumably included Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Interestingly, it was claimed at one point by Jeff Grubb that the project was most likely no longer in the pipeline, something which Jason Schreier was quick to debunk.
Hopefully we’ll finally hear something concrete about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake this year. The game is in development for PS5 and PC. In related news, we still have Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic to look forward too, which was announced at December’s The Game Awards and is being helmed by Mass Effect veteran and director of the original Knights of the Old Republic, Casey Hudson.
