Square Enix To Showcase ‘More Updates On Final Fantasy VII Remake Project Than Ever’ In 2026

Naoki Hamaguchi has heavily indicated that we’ll be getting fresh news on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 this year, as Square Enix plans to showcase more details ‘than ever’ in 2026 on the FFVII Remake project.

The news comes following Nintendo Direct yesterday afternoon, where the publisher announced that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is launching for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on June 3, 2026. Hamaguchi-san also revealed, “This year, we plan to share more updates on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Project than ever before. We look forward to celebrating together with even more players around the world.”

Given that we now have confirmation on FFVII Rebirth’s launch date for other platforms, it’s pretty obvious the big info blowout is going to be FFVII Remake Part 3. A release date for the project hasn’t been announced yet, but next year is Final Fantasy VII’s 30th anniversary, so it would be fitting to see the conclusion to the remake trilogy released in 2027.

Hamaguchi recently confirmed that the third entry in the FFVII Remake project will stick with Unreal Engine 4, although confirmed that a number of modifications have been made. Last December, he told Julien Chieze that the core game experience for FFVII Remake Part 3 is “more or less complete,” which bodes well for fans waiting for more info on the game.

Hamaguchi has previously made it clear he’s very confident in the concluding chapter to the remake series, stating back in August 2024 that he feels FFVII Remake Part 3 will be “one of the most loved, most popular games in the whole history of video games once again.”
