Mass Effect 5 Development Continues As BioWare Is Hiring For A Production Director

BioWare is hiring for Production Director on the next Mass Effect game following a number of departures from the company in wake of the commercial underperformance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Mass Effect 5 has been a long time coming at this point, as we first heard about details regarding a new entry in the sci-fi series back in 2021. The new job was advertised by BioWare’s Mike Gamble on X, revealing it’s “a very important senior leadership role” that will see the successful candidate “report to me and it’s gonna be awesome.”
“Hi, I’m hiring a very important senior leadership role,” said Gamble. “They’ll report to me and it’s gonna be awesome.” The job description further adds that the new position involves working with “creative leadership, studio teams, and internal and external partners to champion the game’s vision and ensure its execution at the highest quality bar.”
Since 1995, BioWare has been dedicated to creating games defined by rich storytelling, unforgettable characters, and expansive worlds. Over the years, the studio has earned recognition for developing some of the industry’s most critically acclaimed titles. Today, BioWare is building on that legacy with the development of the next Mass Effect game, continuing one of the highest-rated and most celebrated series in video game history.
According ex-BioWare legend Mark Darrah, Mass Effect 5 is now the only title in the works at BioWare after deciding not to develop additional content for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Back in January 2025, the RPG maestros revealed they were downsizing its core development team for the new Mass Effect game, insisting “we don’t require support from the full studio.”
The last time we heard anything about the game was in November last year, when artwork emerged depicting a Krogan civil war. However, we don’t know anything concrete about Mass Effect 5’s story or setting at this point, and it’ll probably be a while before BioWare can give us our first proper look at the title.
