Original Version Of Yakuza 0 Is Being Delisted By SEGA In Favour Of Director’s Cut

SEGA and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio have revealed that the original version of Yakuza 0 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One will be delisted from digital storefronts on December 8, 2025, replaced by the upcoming Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut.

The companies announced yesterday that it will be offering a series of discounts for the PS5 versions of Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for existing owners, allowing them to upgrade to the digital versions on PS5 at a much cheaper price. All three games launch on December 8, at which point Yakuza 0 will be replaced on the PlayStation Store by the Director’s Cut.

Yakuza 0 was originally released for the PS3 & PS4 in Japan in March 2025, and was localised for US and EU markets in January 2014 for the PS4. The game would eventually come to the Xbox One in February 2020, and the Director’s Cut made its debut in June 2025 as a launch game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Set during the late 1980s in Kamurocho and Sotenbori, Yakuza 0 follows Kazuma Kiryu and Gore Majima during the early stages of their careers, with Kiryu-san working as a debt collector as a junior member of the Tojo Clan, while Majima is managing a cabaret club. Both become embroiled in a wider plot involving an area known as the Empty Lot, which the Tojo Clan are looking to acquire to expand the area. Both characters have their own unique fighting styles and separate mini-campaigns, with Kiryu working in real estate and Majima runs his daily club operations.
