Resident Evil Requiem’s Stalker Enemy Is A ‘Small Part Of The Game,’ Says Producer

Speaking during an interview with WellPlayed, Resident Evil Requiem Producer Masato Kumazawa has clarified that the game’s stalker enemy will form only a “small part” of the game overall.

As widely reported by now, Resident Evil Requiem will see players stalked by a monstrous creature during a particular sequence involving Grace after she is captured, although it is later discovered that it it is susceptible to light sources. This hag-like foe cannot be killed and must be avoided while solving a few simple puzzles in the area. However, it seems stalker isn’t going to be on our heels for much of the game

I understand how there are a lot of opinions surrounding the stalker, but we are giving a survival horror experience. We did learn from the past on how to balance it. We’re trying not to make it a main part. It’s like a small part of the game. Providing that players can be involved in many different kinds of situations, we’re just trying to cover a whole lot of scenarios to make sure the players can get scared and experience the horror.

Resident Evil is no stranger to including stalker-type foes over the years, with the most famous being Resident Evil 3: Nemesis’ titular creature. Mr. X wasn’t a technically a stalker enemy in the original Resident Evil 2; he simply showed up at pre-determined locations, although the 2019 remake expanded on this allowing him to follow you throughout the police station. Jack Baker from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is another example, who stalks Ethan during the early stages of the game while you are exploring the main Baker residence.

Earlier this week, insider Dusk Golem claimed that he’s heard about ‘at least one DLC‘ that is in production for Resident Evil Requiem, although Capcom hasn’t announced anything about post-launch support yet.

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to ship for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on February 27, 2026.
