Guerrilla Games Studio Boss Confirms Horizon Was ‘Always Thought About As A Multiplayer Game’

Jan-Bart van Beek, head of studio at Guerrilla Games, has revealed that the developer had originally thought of Horizon as a multiplayer game in wake of the announcement of NCSoft’s Horizon Steel Frontiers MMORPG.
“From the first moment we imagined Horizon, we always thought about it as a multiplayer game,” van Beek commented, adding that LEGO Horizon Adventures represented the company’s “first small step” onto a multiplayer setting for the Horizon franchise. “With Steel Frontiers we’re taking an even bigger one,” he said, adding there’s “much more to come.”

It’s interesting to note that van Beek’s comments align with previous reports that Guerrilla Games had wanted to include multiplayer elements in the Horizon franchise.
Jason Schreier from Bloomberg recently stated that Guerrilla Games’ next major project is going to be a Horizon multiplayer game, which is of course separate to the one from NCSoft. The journalist had already claimed that this Horizon spinoff was to be Guerrilla’s major focus before Horizon 3, the latter of which Schreier claimed would not be out for a while yet.
