Christmas has come early as PlayStation brings Horizon and Ratchet and Clank to more platforms

Christmas is supposed to be next month, but the good folks at PlayStation are already handing out presents in the form of some very exciting news; a new Horizon game is on the way, and it’s one that portable players can enjoy, with it heading to both mobile and PC. Yes, you read that right, the world that Aloy inhabits is coming to the small screen in Horizon Steel Frontiers, and guess what, she’s not alone, as Ratchet and Clank are also heading to iOS and Android in Ratchet and Clank Ranger Rumble.
I’ve longed to see PlayStation bring out some new mobile games featuring their biggest IPs, so to see two announcements in quick succession is a dream come true, particularly as I’m a lifelong Ratchet and Clank fan, and I’m more than partial to Aloy’s adventures. Steel Frontiers is to be an MMORPG, and it’s a collaborative effort between Guerrilla and NCSOFT, the latter of which you may know for its Guild Wars and Lineage games.
The announcement trailer shows off the combat you know and love from Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, featuring mechanical animals and plenty of bow action, though you can also spy a sword. I can’t wait to mount some machines and explore this world once again, and, as it’s a multiplayer game, you can bring some friends along for the ride. Naturally, you also get to create your own character instead of playing as Aloy, which is extra exciting to me. Words simply don’t do my excitement levels for this one justice.
Ratchet and Clank Ranger Rumble, meanwhile, is a mobile multiplayer game that involves using those iconic guns to wipe out other players as you all duke it out for victory. There’s a whole roster of characters, including a few lombaxs – it’s not just Ratchet and Rivet out there, after all. Each character has unique abilities that are sure to suit a variety of playstyles.
Some recognizable locations appear in the trailer, including what seems to be Veldin, Ratchet’s home planet, and the place at which the entire franchise begins. The arenas also feature all of the mechanics you know and love, such as grinding, because is it even a Ratchet and Clank game if you don’t get to use grind boots?
There are a variety of game modes, too, such as bolt rush, which involves rushing about to pick up gold bolts, while blast ball offers some soccer fun, and total rumble appears to be the team-based shooter mode. It all looks very chaotic, and I simply can’t wait to play it.
Pre-registrations are open for Ratchet and Clank on iOS and Android now, but we need to wait a bit longer to register interest in Horizon Steel Frontiers. Neither game has a release date yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when they do.
