Arrowhead Pushes Back Helldivers 2 Updates In Order To Focus on Performance Improvements
Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed in a new video that it is pushing back Helldivers 2 content updates in order to put more focus on improving general game performance.
Helldivers 2 Game Director Mikael Eriksson admitted in the video that “many things” are not working right now with the game, which has prompted the “top brains” at Arrowhead to start fixing. Among the improvements that the studio is looking to bring to Helldivers 2 include a smoother frame rate across all formats, as well as addressing crash rates, balance issues and more.

After the last big update, Into the Unjust, we experienced more issues than what we were comfortable with. Players felt it, we felt it, and I would say the feedback that we’ve got has been very justified.
We’re taking this very seriously and we are focusing way more now on addressing these issues to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t happen again. We have made the decision to push some of our content and feature updates a little bit into the future while we’re addressing these things to make sure that we can get to a much more stable state that we can believe in.
We are already making really big improvements and I’m confident that we will get there and we will be able to talk in more detail about this hopefully quite soon.
Helldivers 2 was originally released for the PS5 and PC in February 2024, and the game eventually made the jump to Xbox Series X/S in August 2025. Last month, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios stated that it has ‘no plans’ for Helldivers 3, as it instead plans to keep churning out content for Helldivers 2, which it describes as a “former game.”
