Leaked Footage From Bethesda’s ‘Prey 2’ Appears Online A Decade After Its Cancellation

Well, this is an interesting bit of news to cover this morning! Via Insider Gaming, we’ve spotted a bunch of footage from Bethesda’s cancelled ‘Prey 2‘ project – a follow-up to Xbox 360’s Prey that was in the works in the early 2010’s.

This footage has been leaked by former Human Head Studios developer Dave Halsted; Human Head was the team that created the original Prey for Xbox 360. We’ve thrown the most in-depth video included in this leak up above – and we’ll chuck the rest of the leaked footage down at the bottom of this article as well.

At one stage, Bethesda had plans to launch Prey 2 in 2012 — right before the Xbox One launch — before ultimately cancelling the project in 2014. Of course, the IP was then passed onto Arkane Studios – where the Austin branch produced 2017’s Prey before moving onto Redfall and then being closed down by Microsoft in 2024.

This game, and the series in general, has a pretty interesting history then – and it’s neat to see this footage finally appear well over a decade after the game was in active development at Bethesda. We’re still hoping that more Prey will arrive one day, but we’re not holding our breath after the closure of Arkane Austin last year.

Here’s the rest of the leaked footage from Prey 2:
