EA Confirms Major Battlefield 6 Changes To Movement Following Open Beta, Including Bunny-Hopping & Jump Shots

Electronic Arts has announced that a number of major changes are being implemented to Battlefield 6 following the game’s Open Beta earlier this month, including movement mechanics.

Some of the biggest offenders including bunny hopping, slide-shooting and jump shots, which a lot of players complained about during the Open Beta as they were easily exploitable. Furthermore, many long-time Battlefield fans compared these manoeuvres to something you’d see in Call of Duty, and not something you would typically see in a Battlefield game.

Movement mechanics have been adjusted to create a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience. Momentum, especially horizontal speed, carried from a slide into a jump has been reduced. There is now a greater penalty for consecutive jumps, which lowers jump height when jumps are spammed. Firing while jumping or sliding will result in increased inaccuracy.

These changes are designed to make jumping and sliding more situational, so they are no longer ideal options for engaging in gunfights, and will contribute to a gameplay pace that rewards skillful movement without becoming too fast or unpredictable.

Parachute physics have also been re-tuned, with reduced initial acceleration when opening the parachute for more controlled aerial movement.

EA previously announced after the Battlefield 6 Open Beta’s first weekend that the beta was the biggest in the series’ entire history, and even before it went live there were thousands of people waiting in queue. The second phase of the Open Beta ran last week and once again attracted numbers of players.

In related news, Mike Ybarra, the former president of Blizzard Entertainment, has said he feels Battlefield 6 will boot stomp this year’s Call of Duty, with Activision forced to improve its own franchise as a result. Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
