RGG Studio Currently Has No Plans For Guest Characters In Its Virtua Fighter Reboot

Ryu ga Gotoku Studio’s Riichiro Yamada has revealed that the are currently no plans to include SEGA guest characters in the upcoming Virtua Fighter reboot.

Speaking with Giant Bomb at EVO 2025 earlier this month, Yamada-san made it clear that while there’s no plans right now, he didn’t rule out any guest characters down the line, so there’s still hope. In addition, he revealed that one of the goals for the new Virtua Fighter is to put a bigger emphasis on narrative, something which was lacking in past entires.

So we don’t have any plans right now but as we are developing this new game in the series. We wanna focus on developing that world. With that said there could be characters emerging in a stage but it would be within the Virtua Fighter world. But it could change

One thing that the Virtua Fighter Series was lacking in the past was narrative, and backstory. That was not really included in the games so I felt like we really need to emphasize that part in the new project.
