Ghost Of Yotei Will ‘Focus On Player Freedom More Than Any Game Sucker Punch Has Ever Made’
Sucker Punch Productions‘ Jason Connell and Nate Fox have revealed during the latest State of Play broadcast that Ghost of Yotei will not attempt to rush players during their journey, but rather focus on player freedom.
“Ghost of Yotei isn’t going to rush you through anything,” they said, assuring fans that Ghost of Yotei “focuses on player freedom more than any game Sucker Punch has ever made.” In case you missed the footage, you can check out the new Ghost of Yotei gameplay here.
One of the main features that was confirmed in the State of Play broadcast is ability to relive past events from Atsu’s life via flashbacks, allowing you to get an idea of what life was like for her prior to the Yotei Six brutally killing her family. Most importantly, Sucker Punch wants you to simply explore at your leisure, taking on whatever you feel as you whip out your spyglass and take in the sights.
“‘We think the best way to play is to simply pull out your spyglass, find something interesting on the horizon, and enjoy the ride,” said Connell.
Managing upgrades, resources, when to buy what, can be a burden in a big open-world game At campsites, members of your wolf pack can catch up with you, offering upgrades and unique items. This helps ensure you have every opportunity to upgrade and prepare for Atsu’s vengeance quest ahead. You don’t have to leave where you’re exploring. The game comes to you.
Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, and Sony will launch a series of themed hardware bundles and matching accessories to coincide with the game’s release. Sucker Punch had previously said that Ghost of Yotei will boast the largest map of any open-world game to date, which ties in nicely with the studio’s comments above bout emphasising player freedom.
