Playgama and GameDistribution launch Green Web Game Jam 2025 to tackle environmental challenges

Game tech platform Playgama has partnered with GameDistribution by Azerion to launch the Green Web Game Jam 2025. 

The initiative is aimed at supporting web game developers and will run from July 4th to 15th, followed by judging from July 17th to 21st, with a publishing deadline of August 18th.

Web developers of all skill levels will be tasked with creating games that address ecological issues like pollution, deforestation, overconsumption, and the climate crisis. 

Three winning games will be selected by a panel from Playing for the Planet, Playgama, and GameDistribution, based on game quality, creativity, and how effectively environmental themes are woven into gameplay.

Winners will be showcased on September 1st across GameDistribution and on the Playgama homepage. All proceeds will go to On the Edge, a conservation organisation selected as the 2025 beneficiary.

Raising attention 

The new jam has also partnered with the Green Game Jam, an annual event since 2020, hosted by the Playing for the Planet Alliance which is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Developers can join the Green Web Game Jam 2025 from the official site.
