Zelda: BotW/TotK Switch 2 Editions may not support cloud saves (UPDATE)

Both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are getting Switch 2 Editions, and they’ll be out day-and-date with the Switch 2 launch on June 5th, 2025. These Switch 2 Editions include faster loading, higher framerates, better resolution, the Zelda Notes feature and much more. Unfortunately, it seems both games are going to lose at least one feature they had on the original Switch.

Nintendo’s websites often host a wealth of information on their games, and even more tidbits can be found in the fine print. Nintendo fans often go snooping in the fine print to find breakdowns that Nintendo hasn’t shared anywhere else, and that’s where an interesting detail has been discovered for Zelda: BotW and TotK.

Depending on the version of Nintendo’s sites you go to, the fine print for both Zelda titles states that the Save Data Cloud backup feature won’t be available. No reasoning is given for the feature’s removal, which makes its disappearance that much more disappointing. That said, not all versions of Nintendo’s websites for the games make this claim, so it’s a tad unclear if the feature is being yanked from one game or both.

We’ll keep an eye out for more details on this matter and hopefully have a solid answer soon.

UPDATE: It’s been discovered that the same Cloud Save warning as above has also been spotted in the fine print for both the Switch 2 Edition of Mario Party Jamboree, along with the Switch 2 exclusive Donkey Kong Bonanza.
