Forza Horizon 5 Is Coming To PS5 In Spring 2025
Another previously Xbox exclusive game, and first-party Xbox Game Studios game is coming to PS5, and this time it’s Forza Horizon 5 making the jump.
It’ll arrive on the console sometime in Spring 2025, and while Forza is originally a Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios developed title, porting house Panic Button has led the way on the PS5 version of the game while working with Playground and Turn 10.
Along with this new version, Playground will be adding in new content that’ll be available on all platforms, titled Horizon Realms. “Realms will give players the chance to explore a curated collection of some of the community’s favourite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises,” Playground said in a blog post about the game’s PlayStation release.
Forza Horizon 5 has been heavily rumoured as the next Xbox-exclusive to be coming to PlayStation, and it’s another example of Phil Spencer walking-the-walk of how he’s been talking about Xbox’s approach to releasing its first-party games on other platforms.
In November 2024 he said their were “no red lines” about any game in Xbox’s portfolio, and then in interviews still only days old at time of writing, Spencer reiterated that point multiple times, and said again “there’s no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say ‘this game will not go to a place where it will find players and have business success for us.’”
As a further extension of Spencer’s philosophy, Forza Horizon 5 will also support cross-play across all platforms at launch. Though it’ll be interesting to see if we get a PS5 Pro version of the game. That would be an interesting comparison test, between the Xbox Series X and PlayStation’s mid-gen refresh.
