Check out footage and pics from the grand opening of Super Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country park

Last month, Nintendo aired a special Nintendo Direct that was all about the Donkey Kong Country expansion for Super Nintendo World. In particular, we got to see how the Japanese side of things shaping up via a tour from Shigeru Miyamoto. It was a great little glimpse into the park, and that was followed by some pics and footage from early-access visitors. Today brings us the motherload though, as the park is officially open.

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan has officially opened the doors for Donkey Kong Country to the general public, and they kicked things off with some special festivities attended by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto. You can see the grand opening via the video above, but Nintendo also shared a handful of new pictures that you can sift through here.

The Donkey Kong Country portion of Super Nintendo World will also make its way to Super Nintendo World in Florida and California at a later date. We don’t have the specifics on dates just yet, but there’s no doubt we’ll glean more details in 2025.
