Mobile games developer Nitro Games has released its roguelike RPG Autogun Heroes on CrazyGames’ web portal, bringing cross-play functionality and linked progress between devices.
The expansion means newcomers can play on the web without a download while veterans of the mobile version can pick up where they left off on PC.
Progress is continually synced, meaning players switching to PC can return to mobile later.
Expanding accessibility
The web version of Autogun Heroes was developed collaboratively between Nitro Games and Pley, the latter providing the technology and solutions needed for the RPG’s web iteration. The resultant product has ultimately launched on CrazyGames’ portal today, October 29th, 2024.
CrazyGames claims that its web portal has 35 million unique monthly users, which should naturally open the doors to many potential new Autogun Heroes players.
Autogun Heroes’ web version is free-to-play with in-game ads and microtransactions like on mobile.
“We’re happy to sign Autogun Heroes with Crazy Games,” said Nitro Games CEO and co-founder Jussi Tähtinen.
“We explored our options in web gaming and were impressed by the reach and popularity they’ve achieved with their portal. The visibility they can deliver well supports our expansion plans with Autogun Heroes.”
CrazyGames VP of marketing and partnerships Rafael Morgan commented on the deal: “We are beyond excited to launch Autogun Heroes on CrazyGames in collaboration with Nitro Games. This partnership represents a powerful synergy between Nitro Games’ innovative vision and our platform’s global reach.
“This is just the beginning of what we believe will be a long and successful partnership with Nitro Games.”
Pley AB CCO Shawn Adamek added: “Pley is excited to work with CrazyGames and Nitro to bring Autogun Heroes to a huge audience of browser gamers worldwide. As cross-platform gaming continues to gain traction, we’re thrilled to work with like-minded partners to bring a highly engaging title to one of the most prominent web gaming destinations.”
Cross-platform releases have been a growing trend in the games industry over recent years, whether it’s Pokémon Unite, Genshin Impact or Reverse: 1999.
Newzoo’s Tom Wijman shared at PGC London that there is “absolutely something to be said for having your mobile games on PC and console”.
