So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.

Age of Empires Mobile

New release roundup: Age of Empires: Mobile, Pocket Necromancer, Battle Cars, and more

The classic real-time strategy series Age of Empires Mobile has launched worldwide. Co-developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group and World’s Edge, the title meshes together familiar gameplay elements with new and mobile-specific game modes and features.

Players can take part in massively multiplayer online games such as Siege, an alliance-versus-alliance game mode featuring large-scale castle sieges with hundreds of players controlling thousands of units.

Ragnarok: Monster World

The latest entry in the Ragnarok franchise, Monster World gives players yet another deck-building opportunity but this time comprising the cute and curious Ragmons. There are over 400 types of Ragmon available taking inspiration from the wider Ragnarok series.

The task here should sound familiar to anyone versed in monster collecters: players should aim to collect ‘em all. The Ragmon can also be merged together to enhance their level with an element of strategic planning necessary to make them the strongest beasts around.

Singapore-based 0X& has released Ragnarok: Monster World on mobile as well as Sky Mavis’ Ronin blockchain, as this title’s Ragmon also function as NFTs.

Battle Cars

yt

Speed meets destruction in TinyByte’s Battle Cars, bringing fast-paced shooter action to all manner of pumped-up vehicles. Players will need to master their driving ability to survive in this post-apocalyptic MOBA cyberpunk space.

Choosing the best gear to bring into battle is essential, but depending on an individual’s playstyle, they may prefer an attack-heavy approach, a highly armoured metallic monster or perhaps a streamlined machine built around agility.

TinyBytes already has experience in multiplayer arenas and mechanical battles with Massive Warfare: Tanks PvP War, but is turning more towards the fantastical with this new car-based shooter.

Pocket Necromancer

Sandsoft has published action RPG Pocket Necromancer globally on the App Store and Google Play. The title is described as a ‘fast-paced, action-packed RPG that blends strategy, humour, and thrilling battles’.

Players must assemble an army of mionions, defend their castle and explore a variety of environments across enchanted forests, shadowy caves and mystical landscapes.

Castle Duels

yt

After three months in beta form, Castle Duels has fully launched around the world and brought the latest dose of real-time tower defence gameplay with it.

Out now on Android and iOS, this My.Games title has already earned itself one million installs prior to full release thanks to a concept marrying strategic depth with chaotic PvP, tasking players with summoning mages, minotaurs, succubi and more to engage in fast-paced, card-based combat.

There are currently 30 unique units to play with and a variety of rankings between them, ranging from common to legendary.

And as one might expect for a card-based game, these units can be combined into a personalised deck to provide near-limitless strategies, taken that much further by merge mechanics which unlock special abilities and powerful attacks.

Disney Pixel RPG

yt

While the term Disney RPG may lead many a veteran gamer to think Kingdom Hearts, Mickey Mouse is going more accessible in his latest game-related romp.

In fact, the newly released mobile adventure Disney Pixel RPG has nothing to do with the Kingdom Hearts series – it’s a standalone game combining beloved IPs, beginner-friendly RPG gameplay and bombastic pixel graphics with enough style to bring any character to life.

Developed by Disney’s latest partner GungHo Online Entertainment, Disney Pixel RPG has no shortage of potential characters to draw from: A 100-year legacy means quite the back catalogue of characters.

Popular childhood icons from Pooh to Stitch, Aurora and even Baymax have already made the cut, landing sprite-based appearances as playable characters amongst an ensemble cast.

As for why these characters have come together, well that’s because there’s a world to save. Multiple worlds, actually. They’ve been invaded by strange programs breaking down reality, but can be stopped by the player through intuitive auto-battling and effective AFK management.
