FunPlus has soft-launched two new licenced games in the shape of Foundation: Galactic Frontier and DC: Dark Legion.

Foundation, a strategy title developed in partnership with Skydance Interactive and Apple TV, is based on the sci-fi books written by Isaac Asimov, now also a TV series on Apple+.

Players are tasked with building up their squad and fleet, engaging in battles, and growing their economic empire.

Pre-registrations open

The game is currently available on Google Play only in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Philippines, United Kingdom, United States. In a post on LinkedIn, the developer said players outside of the soft launch countries and with Apple devices should “keep an eye” on its official channels for further announcements.

Foundation: Galactic Frontier is currently open for pre-registration through the official website.

IP strategy

News of the soft launch of both new titles sees FunPlus doubling down on its licensed IP strategy. The company has previously released hits based on own original IP such as State of Survival and Guns of Glory.

The company has used IP partnerships in the past, such as working with Warner Bros. to bring the Joker to State of Survival. Foundation and DC: Dark Legion mark the company’s first forays into fully licensed titles, however.

We recently added Foundation and DC: Dark Legion to our big list of top mobile games in soft launch, which you can check out here.
