Original God Of War Trilogy Could Be Receiving Remaster Treatment – Rumour
Hot off the heels of the release of Valhalla, God of War Ragnarök’s free slice of downloadable roguelite content, a new rumour has cropped up revealing that we may potentially be getting remasters of the original God of War trilogy.
Coming courtesy of the Xbox Era podcast, founder Nick Baker has mentioned that there’s murmurs that it this indeed may be the case but in what capacity remains to be seen.
‘’I’ve heard that we might be getting the OG God of War trilogy remastered on PlayStation,” mentions Baker.
He continued: ‘’Is this a straight-up port of what we got on PS3, in which case I’m somewhat less excited, or is this something a little more involved, more in the remake realm?”
Though Kratos’ third mainline escapade is available via a PS4 remaster, the original two games are not as readably available unless you want to go down the cloud streaming route.
This might have legs given PlayStation’s apparent transmedia aims with respect to its key IP. We’ve seen them aim to capitalize on the success of HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation by remaking the original game and setting up the re-release of its sequel early next year.
While at the same time rumours persist of a potential Horizon Zero Dawn remaster which may or may not hit around the time of Netflix’s announced adaptation.

Similarly, God of War has been picked up by Amazon for a live-action adaptation on Prime so this would continue the trend of Sony attempting to crystalize its best-known characters by thrusting past games into the spotlight, striking while the iron is hot so to speak.
Be that as it may, some of Nick’s prior tips have not bore fruit so for now let’s place this firmly in the rumour mill until we hear otherwise.
