Virtua Fighter Crossroads Delivers A Punchy, Visually Stunning Reveal Trailer

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially announced Virtua Fighter Crossroads as the next chapter in the venerable fighting game franchise. It’s due out in 2027.
Check out the trailer below.
The new Virtua Fighter game was originally announced at The Game Awards 2024, where it was confirmed that Yakuza/Like A Dragon maestros RGG Studio were behind the latest entry in the series. However, not much has been showcased on the game since, and this is the first time that we’ve got confirmation on the rumoured Crossroads subtitle. Back in August last year, RGG Studio said it had no plans to include any guest characters in the new Virtua Fighter.
SEGA revealed a few key details on the game back in September last year, stating that gameplay will be formed around two battle rules — Standard and Uprising. Standard has players achieving victory by scoring a KO or knocking your opponent out of the ring during a three-round bout. Uprising shifts things by offering dynamic momentum-shifting opportunities.
The brainchild of Shenmue and Hang-On creator Yu Suzuki, Virtua Fighter pioneered 3D fighting games following its release back in 1993 in arcades, and was followed by a Sega Saturn release in 1994.
